Welcome to our web site, which I hope will be an exciting information center about state government finances, auditing issues, and accounting guidance that can help local government as well. As we work to improve the web site in the next few months, please let me know your thoughts and suggestions.
I am grateful, humbled and honored to be Auditor of Accounts, one of Vermont’s few Constitutional Officers. Our office staff is comprised of approximately 13 auditors, audit analysts and support staff, five of whom have earned the designation as Certified Public Accountant (CPA). This team provides Vermont taxpayers with a high level of professionalism, accountability and integrity.
We are most concerned with audits of the financial statements of Vermont State Government, and state and federal funds that are used by State agencies or passed through to local organizations. On occasion, we provide assistance or guidance to cities and towns upon request, and we conduct or supervise financial statement audits of Vermont’s County Sheriffs’ Departments.
It’s my goal to work hard every day on behalf of Vermonters to ensure that my office carries out its duties by adhering to the professional standards of the auditing profession, and working with State agencies in an atmosphere of mutual trust, honesty and integrity.
